Card text

When you reveal a command, you may discard a [Squadron] dial or token and this card to choose 1 enemy ship at close range. Choose and discard 1 [Weapons Team], [Support Team], [Offensive Retrofit], [Defensive Retrofit], [Ordnance], [Ion Cannons], or [Turbolaser] upgrade card equipped to that ship.

Properties

Type Weapons Team & Offensive Retrofit
Faction Rebel
Unique Yes
Points 6

Timing

This Upgrade Card may be discarded and resolved when a ship reveals a command dial and discards a Squadron dial or token.

Official rulings

The correct version of this card is the original text found on the original upgrade card. The printing found in the Upgrade Card Collection mistakingly contains two [Offensive Retrofit] and is missing one [Ordnance].

To resolve this card’s effect, you must discard a [squadron] dial or a [squadron] token (your choice), then also discard this upgrade card regardless of if you discarded a dial or token.

Question: When a card ability allows a player to discard an upgrade (i.e. Sunder, Shriv Suurgav, Darth Vader (Weapons Team/Offensive Retrofit)), can they choose an upgrade that fills more than one upgrade slot (i.e. Boarding Troopers)?

Answer: Yes. Any card may be chosen, as long as it meets the requirements for removals listed in the effect.

Community rulings

Can you discard cards in multiple upgrade slot? (i.e. Can Sunder, Shriv, or Boarding Vader discard Boarding Troopers, etc.?)

Karneck: My conclusion is they can, based on the consideration that the upgrade card is a single card that requires both upgrade card slots, but is considered to occupy each slot when checked.

Brooks: Shriv (or Sunder) can discard any card with any of the listed icons, regardless of any other icons it might have. The word “or” is used to make it clear that only one card can be discarded, not one matching each icon. Upgrade icons are properties that upgrade cards possess, and which are sometimes used to refer to them, but the rules have never distinguished a “Weapons Team + Offensive Retrofit” card from another card with only one of those icons for any game mechanical purpose.

When a ship equipped with Shriv Suurgav (Boarding Team) reveals a command, it disgards that card and either a Squadron dial or token to choose 1 enemy ship at close range.

You may choose and discard 1 upgrade card equipped on the targeted ship. But cannot choose a Commander, Officer, Experimental Retrofit, Fleet Command, Fleet Support, Title, or Superweapon upgrade card.

Even if Shriv Suurgav (Boarding Team) was to discard Early Warning System, the chaff token remains and continues to obstruct all attacks until the end of the status phase when it is removed.

Even if Shriv Suurgav (Boarding Team) was to discard Auxiliary Shield Team, any additional shields in the left and right hull zones remain.

If Flag Bridge is discarded by Shriv Suurgav (Boarding Team), The Fleet Command card granted by the title card ability remains. It also removes the restriction of not being able to discard command tokens for the equipped Fleet Command. (Meaning the Fleet Command can resolve as usual)
