During your activation, you may choose a ship at distance 1-2 with at least 1 command token. If you do, that ship must choose and discard a command token, then a friendly ship at distance 1-2 of you may gain a command token of any type.

Timing
This Squadron’s ability can be resolved at any point during its activation and may be resolved even if it is engaged.
Clarifications
Once this Squadron’s ability has been declared, the sequence must proceed uninterrupted. Additional effects that would modify or replace tokens, unless explicitly stated, cannot apply during the ability resolution.
The chosen ship gets to choose and discard the command token, not this Squadron.
When the first part of this Squadron’s ability is resolved, this squadron may choose a friendly or enemy ship.
This Squadron’s ability can be used on the same target, as “another” or “a different” ship is not specified. Meaning that this Squadron may choose a friendly ship to choose and discard a command token, and then it may choose the same friendly ship to gain a token of any type.
When the second part of this Squadron’s ability is resolved, if a friendly ship is chosen, that ship can choose to not gain a command token.
If no friendly ship is in the distance 1-2 band for the second condition of this Squadron’s ability, then the effect ends after the chosen ship chooses and discards a command token.
