Community rulings

During the “Resolve Damage” step, if a Blue critical icon is showing in the attack pool, and before damage is suffered, Overload Pulse may be resolved for its effect. This effect causes the defending ship to exhaust any defense tokens in the readied state to the exhausted state.

This card ability does NOT trigger before defense tokens are spent.

Defense tokens are still spent in the “Spend Defense Tokens” step, which is before the “Resolve Damage” step. Since this card ability takes place in the “Resolve Damage” step, any remaining readied defense tokens are flipped to the exhausted state, and any defense tokens that are already exhausted are not affected.
