Rebellion in the Rim (SWM31)

Card text

Setup: Place obstacles as normal, excluding the station. After placing obstacles, place 1 objective token on each obstacle. Then the second player places 2 exogorth obstacles, each touching a different obstacle.

Special Rule: When a ship or squadron overlaps an obstacle, that ship or squadron’s owner may remove the objective token on the obstacle to gain 1 victory token.

After the start of each squadron phase (after exogorths perform attacks), remove each exogorth from the play area. Then the second player moves the obstacle each exogorth was touching to within distance 1-2 of its current location.

End of Round: For each exogorth obstacle not in the play area, the second player chooses an obstacle and place 1 exogorth touching that obstacle.

Official rulings

After the start of the squadron phase, only obstacles that are currently touching Exogorths, if any, are moved. If an obstacle is touching both Exogorths, it may only be moved once.

Exogorths may be moved away from the obstacle they were touching during deployment by effects such as Grav Shift Reroute or Ezra Bridger.

Exogorths can be moved as specified by the effect that moved them and per the rules on moving obstacles. They can be touching no other obstacles, the same obstacle, or another Exogorth obstacle.

At the end of the round, the second player must place each exogorth obstacle so that it is touching an obstacle without another exogorth obstacle touching it (i.e. two exogorth obstacles cannot both touch the same non-exogorth obstacle).

Question: For the Objectives Infested Fields and Dangerous Territory, if a ship or squadron is “placed” or “deployed” overlapping an obstacle that has an objective token on it, can it remove that objective token to gain 1 victory token?

Answer: No, a ship or squadron can only remove the objective token on an obstacle when it overlaps after moving.

What happens if a ship on its last hull point rams another ship and it ends movement overlapping an obstacle. Can it claim an objective token on that obstacle before it is removed from being destroyed?
Yes, per FAQ for dangerous territory “This card’s Special Rule effect resolves during the Move Ship step while executing a maneuver.” Note that it says “while” executing a maneuver, not “after”.

Hondo Ohnaka (Slave 1) “places” squadrons with its ability. It does not “move” them, and thus would not resolve the “overlapping” effect of obstacles for claiming objective tokens in Infested Fields.

If there are any tokens overlapping an Exogorth that is removed from the play area, any tokens on it would need to be placed in the play area touching the Exogorth before it is removed. Following the only other example/precedent of what we know, which is from Capture the VIP.

If an Exogorth is able to be placed touching multiple obstacles, the player needs to choose and declare which non Exogorth obstacle that Exogorth will be placed “touching”.
