At the start of the Ship Phase, you may choose to activate Han Solo.

When resolving timing for “Start of the Ship Phase”, 1st player resolves all effects in that timing window including activating this squadron. Then the 2nd player resolves all effect. This is important due to the ability of a 1st player activated Han Solo being able to destroy a 2nd players Han Solo or a ship before it can resolve an ability, such as Reinforced Blast Doors, among others.

Even though Han Solo is activated “as if” by a Squadron command, it is not associated with any ship and cannot also resolve or be benefited by any upgrade card (Such as Flight controllers or All Fighters, Follow Me!).
