Once per round, when a friendly ship or friendly unique squadron is destroyed, it remains in the play area and is treated as if it was not destroyed until the end of the Status Phase.

Timing

This Upgrade Card triggers when a ship or unique squadron is dealt damage equal to or higher than its hull value, which would result in it being destroyed. The player may decide to keep this destroyed ship or squadron in the play area until the end of the Status Phase.

Question: Can a player choose when to resolve General Rieekan’s effect?

Answer: Yes. The player can determine when to resolve General Rieekan’s effect, once per round.

Ships and squadrons affected by this ability are destroyed at the end of the Status Phase regardless of the number of damage cards or hull points they have at that time. These ships or squadrons are removed before resolving any “end of round” or “end of game” effects.

Ships and squadrons affected by this ability are treated as undestroyed until the end of the Status Phase for all purposes (attacking, defending, resolving card abilities, etc). These ships and squadrons can suffer additional damage from resolving effects such as Ruthless Strategists.

Rieekan’s ability affects the ship he is equipped to. If this ability prevents the last ship in Rieekan’s fleet from being destroyed, the game ends at the end of the game round.

The ship with this card equipped can choose whether to resolve this card’s effect before the destroyed ship or squadron is removed from the play area.

Community rulings

This ability may only be resolved once per round, on a friendly ship or unique squadron that is about to be removed from the play area due to being destroyed. This destroyed ship or unique squadron is kept in the play area until the end of the Status Phase, when it is then removed.

Once per game round, if a friendly ship or squadron in your fleet has suffered damage that would destroy it, before it is removed from the play area, you may use General Rieekans ability to choose to treat that ship or squadron as not destroyed. Until the end of the status phase when it is then removed and treated as destroyed.

A ship or unique squadron may continue to be attacked and/or suffer damage while in the play area. Damage cards are still drawn on a ship that has been destroyed yet still in the play area under the effect of General Rieekan.

A ship or squadron the leaves the play area, by moving out of the play area, are immediately destroyed and removed. They don’t hang around “off” the table.

The destroyed ship or squadron is removed from the play area at the end of the status phase, meaning that it cannot score on objectives that take place “end of round” or “end of game”.

General Rieekan may be used on an armed / unarmed station that the player controls as “stations are treated as ships when resolving effects”. (Only useful for Station Assault and CC objectives)

Any ship or squadron under the effect of General Rieekans ability remains in the play area until the end of the status phase, even if the ship General Rieekan is equipped too leaves the play area or is destroyed.

In regards to the campaign “The Corellian Conflict”, if a ship is under the effect of General Rieekan, and it departs the area making a hyperspace retreat. The ship is NOT considered destroyed (although its points are scored as if it had been), and thus not scarred, as it was never removed from the play area.
