Screen. (While you are defending, for each other friendly squadron the attacker is engaged with that lacks screen, up to 3, you gain dodge 1.)

If a defender did have a single “Readied” defense token, and they spent that token in the “Spend Defense tokens” step, so that it is now “exhausted”, this would allow General Grievous card effect to resolve in the “Resolve Damage” step.
