Rebellion in the Rim (SWM31)

Card text

Setup: The second player places the gravity rift in the center of the setup area. Then, starting with the first player, the players alternate placing the remaining obstacles, excluding the station. Then the second player places the station in the setup area beyond distance 1 of all obstacles and beyond distance 5 of both player’s edges.

End of Round: Starting with the second player and alternating, each player chooses 1 obstacle that does not have an objective token on it and moves it to within distance 1-2 of its current location toward the gravity rift (which cannot be chosen). Then that player places an objective token on that obstacle. When an obstacle touches the gravity rift, that obstacle is removed from the play area.

After all obstacles are moved, each player sums the command values of their ships at distance 1 of the station. The player with the highest total gains 1 victory token. Then remove all objectives tokens from the play area.

Official rulings

While playing Doomed Station, if an obstacle is moved from an effect (such as from Ezra Bridger or Grav Shift Reroute) so that it is touching the gravity rift, that obstacle is immediately destroyed at the beginning of the End of Round step before players choose and move obstacles.

If an obstacle cannot be moved toward the gravity rift at all because it would overlap ships, squadrons, other obstacles, or tokens, that obstacle remains at its current position. The player moving the obstacle may still rotate it, as long as this follows rules for moving obstacles and the rules for this objective.

Community rulings

The standard obstacles are modified. During setup, Before placing obstacles, the Gravity Rift obstacle is placed in the center of the setup area by the second player. Then obstacles are placed, excluding the station, starting with the FIRST player. After obstacles are placed, the station is placed by the 2nd player in the setup area beyond distance 1 of all obstacles and beyond distance 5 of both players edges.

“Center of setup area”: Margin of error is to be expected, as long as both players agree that the Gravity Rift is “centered”. If no agreement is reached, a judge will place the Gravity Rift for the players.

At End of Round:
Starting with the second player, each player will choose 1 obstacle at a time and move it toward the Gravity Rift and within D1-2. The Gravity Rift cannot be chosen to be moved. Once that obstacle has moved, place an objective token on that obstacle so that it is not selected to be moved again.
If an obstacle ends its movement touching the Gravity Rift (as it cannot end it overlapping) it is removed from the play area.
After all obstacles have been moved, Each player sums the command value of ships at distance 1 of the station. The player with the highest total gains 1 victory token worth 20 points. Then remove all objective tokens from the obstacles.
Example,
Player A has 2 ships at distance 1 of the station.
Player B has 1 ship also at distance 1 of the same station,
Each Player A ship has a command value of 1, for a total of 2.
And Player B’s ship has a command value of 3, for a total of 3.
Player B’s ship would gain a victory token.

Obstacles must move toward the Gravity Rift, within D1-2. Obstacles must move at least up to (and touching) the edge of the D1 range band. It cannot end this movement overlapping a ship, squadron, token (like Proximity Mines or G7-X Grav Well Projector token), or obstacles. If an obstacle ends its movement touching the gravity rift, it is removed from the play area.

When moving obstacles in this objective, the “toward” keyword is in effect. (See RRG for more information) Obstacles do not move around ships nor are they forced to “jump” over ships, squadrons, tokens, or obstacles. The minimum enforced distance is to the edge of the D1 range band.

In regards to what happens to a Proximity Mine token (or other tokens) if it is on an obstacle that is removed from the board, the only other rule precedent that is currently written is for Capture the VIP. Which is when a ship with an objective token on it is destroyed, the opponent places that token touching the base of the destroyed ship before it is removed.
So if an obstacle has a proximity mine token on it when it is removed, or is moved and that obstacle touches the Gravity Rift in Doomed Station in its final position and is to be removed from the play area.
An opponent may place that proximity mine token touching the final position of the obstacle. They are not removed from the play area.

Obstacles that have been moved must have an objective token placed on it so that it is not chosen to be moved again this round. After scoring, remove all objective tokens. (This would not resolve the card effects of Moralo Eval)

If obstacles are moved by Grav Shift Reroute or Ezra Bridger so that it is touching the Gravity Rift, it is not removed at this point. As the timing for the removal of obstacles is only during “End of Round” for that objective.
