Timing

Official rulings
When Defiance resolves its effect, the die is added during the “Resolve Attack Effects” step and can be of any color, regardless of the attack’s range.

Community rulings
When a ship equipped with Defiance is attacking an enemy ship, if that ship has already activated this round, you may add 1 die of any color to your attack pool in the “Resolve Attack Effects” step.
