To resolve this card’s effect, you must discard a dial or a token (your choice), then also discard this upgrade card regardless of if you discarded a dial or token.

Question: When a card ability allows a player to discard an upgrade (i.e. Sunder, Shriv Suurgav, Darth Vader (Weapons Team/Offensive Retrofit)), can they choose an upgrade that fills more than one upgrade slot (i.e. Boarding Troopers)?

Answer: Yes. Any card may be chosen, as long as it meets the requirements for removals listed in the effect.

When a ship equipped with Darth Vader (Boarding Team) reveals a command, it discards that card and either a Squadron dial or token to choose 1 enemy ship at close range.

You may choose and discard 1 upgrade card equipped on the targeted ship. But cannot choose a Commander upgrade card.

If Darth Vader (Boarding Team) was to discard Relentless, that ship would now need to set command dials according to its command value in the next command phase. (3 dials, instead of 2.)

If Rapid Launch Bays or Profundity is discarded by Darth Vader (Boarding Team) then any squadrons or ships currently set aside that have not been placed are considered destroyed.

Even if Darth Vader (Boarding Team) was to discard Captain Needa, its timing trigger has already happened, meaning it would not remove the ships evade token.

Even if Darth Vader (Boarding Team) was to discard Endeavor, its timing trigger has already happened, meaning it would not remove the ships contain token.

If the Liberator title is discarded by Darth Vader (Boarding Team), it also removes the restriction of not being able to discard command tokens for the equipped Fleet Command. (Meaning the Fleet Command can now resolve as usual)

Even if Darth Vader (Boarding Team) was to discard Early Warning System, the chaff token remains and continues to obstruct all attacks until the end of the status phase when it is removed.

Even if Darth Vader (Boarding Team) was to discard Chimaera, the current Fleet Command equipped would remain.

Even if Darth Vader (Boarding Team) was to discard Phoenix Home, the additional Officer equipped would remain.

Even if Darth Vader (Boarding Team) was to discard Vanguard, the Weapons Team equipped and the Redirect defense token would remain.

Even if Darth Vader (Boarding Team) was to discard Harrow, the Support Team equipped would remain.

Even if Darth Vader (Boarding Team) was to discard Minister Tua, the Defensive Retrofit equipped would remain.
