Setup: Obstacles must be placed in the setup area beyond distance 5 of both players’ edges. After placing obstacles, place 1 objective token on each obstacle.
Special Rule: When a ship overlaps an obstacle, the ship’s owner may remove the objective token on that obstacle to gain 1 victory token.
When one of the second player’s ships overlaps an asteroid field or debris field, that obstacle has no effect.

Question: For the Objectives Infested Fields and Dangerous Territory, if a ship or squadron is “placed” or “deployed” overlapping an obstacle that has an objective token on it, can it remove that objective token to gain 1 victory token?
Answer: No, a ship or squadron can only remove the objective token on an obstacle when it overlaps after moving.

A squadron with strategic can move objective tokens off of or onto obstacles. An objective token can only be removed to gain 1 victory token if it is overlapping an obstacle. If multiple objective tokens are overlapping an obstacle, only 1 can be removed when a ship overlaps that obstacle.

Community rulings
If an obstacle with an objective token placed on it during the setup of Dangerous Territory is moved with Grav Shift Reroute, or some other effect, that objective token remains on that obstacle.

The standard obstacles are used during setup, which are 3 asteroid fields, 2 debris fields, and 1 station. All obstacles must be placed in the setup area beyond distance 5 of both players edges, after placing obstacles, place 1 objective token on each obstacle.

Who places the objective tokens on the obstacles and where are they placed?
The 2nd player must provide all items needed for the objective, thus the 2nd player will be placing the objective tokens, overlapping anywhere on the obstacle is fine.

The special rule:
When a ship overlaps an obstacle, the owner of that ship may remove the objective token on that obstacle to gain 1 victory token worth 15 points.
If that ship is owned by the second player, overlapping an asteroid or debris field has no effect.
Note that squadrons with strategic can move objective tokens on or off the obstacles, and an objective token can only be claimed if it is overlapping an obstacle when that obstacle is overlapped by a ship. If there are multiple objective tokens overlapping the same obstacle, only 1 can be removed. Also if a ship overlaps multiple obstacles in a single maneuver, you may claim an objective token from each obstacle, not per obstacle.

What happens if a ship on its last hull point rams another ship and it ends movement overlapping an obstacle. Can it claim an objective token on that obstacle before it is removed from being destroyed?
Yes, per FAQ for dangerous territory “This card’s Special Rule effect resolves during the Move Ship step while executing a maneuver.” Note that it says “while” executing a maneuver, not “after”.
