Timing
This Upgrade Card resolves during “Resolve Damage” step of an attack.
Note: The defender has to decide during the “Spend Defense Tokens” step if they will use a Contain defense token. This is before the attacker declares whether he will use the standard or another critical effect. As Critical effects are resolved in the “Resolve Damage” step.

When a ship equipped with Damage Control Officer spends a Contain defense token, any and all critical effects are prevented from resolving.
