Commander Vanto

When a ship equipped with Commander Vanto resolves its first command, you may exhaust Commander Vanto. If you do, gain 1 command token of your choice.

The timing windows of when a Command resolves and when you can exhaust Commander Vanto is as follows.

Concentrate fire: After spending a dial, or a token, or a dial+token to add a die and/or reroll a die in “Resolve Attack Effects” step.

Navigation: After a ship executes a maneuver and spending a dial, or a token, or a dial+token in the “Determine Course” step.

Repair: After spending a dial, or a token, or a dial+token and engineering points are spent. In the “after revealing the ships command dial” step.

Squadron: After activating squadrons by spending a dial, or a token, or a dial+token. In the “after revealing the ships command dial” step.

An example of use, a ship resolves a Repair Command, you may now exhaust Commander Vanto to gain a Squadron token and then spend that Squadron token to resolve a Squadron Command.

The officer Commander Vanto has a unique timing opportunity with Comms Net. When you reveal a Repair or Squadron command. Those Dials “Resolve after revealing the ships command dial.” Meaning, you can resolve one of those commands, then Exhaust Commander Vanto and gain a token, and now “After the Reveal Command Dial Step” you can use Comms Net to move that gained token.

Currently the timing on this is VERY technical and may not be intended by the developers. This has been forwarded to as a question to them.

Steps broken down to do Vanto and Comms net.

Step 1: Reveal Command dial. Example, Squadron. Declare using the dial.

Step 2: Per RRG “Resolve after revealing the ships command dial.” So currently IN “After reveal command dial” timing window. Resolve command.

Step 3: Squadron command has resolved, exhaust Vanto and gain a token of your choice.

Step 4: Now “After the Reveal Command Dial Step” use Comms Net to send the token to another ship.
