Upgrade card effects that flip facedown damage cards faceup (such as Boarding Engineers) are not dealing that card to the affected ship, thus Medical Team could not be resolved in that instance.

A facedown damage card cannot be chosen more than once while resolving this effect.

Can you discard cards in multiple upgrade slot? (i.e. Can Sunder, Shriv, or Boarding Vader discard Boarding Troopers, etc.?)

Karneck: My conclusion is they can, based on the consideration that the upgrade card is a single card that requires both upgrade card slots, but is considered to occupy each slot when checked.

Brooks: Shriv (or Sunder) can discard any card with any of the listed icons, regardless of any other icons it might have. The word “or” is used to make it clear that only one card can be discarded, not one matching each icon. Upgrade icons are properties that upgrade cards possess, and which are sometimes used to refer to them, but the rules have never distinguished a “Weapons Team + Offensive Retrofit” card from another card with only one of those icons for any game mechanical purpose.

When a ship equipped with Boarding Engineers reveals a command, it disgards that card and either a Squadron dial or token to choose 1 enemy ship at close range. You may look at all of the facedown damage cards on that ship and choose which facedown damage cards you wish to flip faceup according to your engineering value.

The chosen cards are then flipped one at a time, a damage card cannot be chosen again, and any new damage cards dealt cannot be chosen.

For example: A ship has 3 facedown damage cards, the ship resolving Boarding Engineers has an engineering value of 2. Look at all 3 facedown damage cards, then choose 2 of those 3 to be flipped.

Then flip each card and resolve them one at a time. If one of the cards flipped faceup is “structural damage” the additional damage card dealt face down cannot be chosen to be flipped face up, nor can you choose the same card you’ve already flipped. As you’ve already selected which cards were to be flipped.

You do not need to reveal what the other facedown damage cards you did not choose to your opponent.

General Dodonnas ability is not resolved when damage cards already dealt face down, are turned face up by an effect such as Boarding Engineers.

Lira Wessex ability may not resolve when damage cards already dealt face down, are flipped face up by Boarding Engineers.
