Asteroid Tactics

Expansions

Rebellion in the Rim (SWM31)

Card text

Setup: The second player places all obstacles, excluding the station.

Special Rule: When one of the first player’s ships or unique squadrons overlaps an asteroid field, it may recover 1 of its non- Scatter defense tokens. That token must be exhausted.

When one of the second player’s ships or unique squadrons overlaps an asteroid field, that obstacle has no effect and that ship or squadron may recover 1 of its non- Scatter defense tokens or may ready 1 of its defense tokens.

After the start of each squadron phase (after exogorths perform attacks), remove each exogorth obstacle from the play area.

End of Round: The second player places the 2 exogorth obstacles, each touching a different obstacle.

Official rulings

If a ship or unique squadron overlaps more than 1 asteroid field at the same time, the special rule effect for Asteroid Tactics would resolve for each asteroid field that is overlapped.

Community rulings

The standard obstacles are modified, during setup remove the station, then the second player places all obstacles. (The second player will need 2 exogorth obstacles to be placed later.)

The special rule:
When a ship or unique squadron (with defense tokens) overlap an asteroid field, it may recover 1 defense token that is not Scatter. The first player suffers that obstacle effect, while the second player suffers no effect.
If that ship or unique squadron belongs to the first player, a non Scatter defense token can be recovered and set to the exhausted (red) state.
If that ship or unique squadron belongs to the second player, a non Scatter defense token can be recovered and set to the readied (green) state, OR it may select one defense token in the exhausted state, to be set to the readied state.

After the start of the squadron phase (after the exogorths have attacked), remove the exogorths obstacles from the play area.

At End of Round:
The second player chooses 2 different obstacles, then places an exogorth on each. (You may not place an exogorth on an exogorth)

If there are any tokens overlapping an Exogorth that is removed from the play area, any tokens on it would need to be placed in the play area touching the Exogorth before it is removed. Following the only other example/precedent of what we know, which is from Capture the VIP.

If an Exogorth is able to be placed to where it is touching multiple obstacles, the player needs to choose and declare which non Exogorth obstacle that Exogorth will be placed “touching”.

The faceup damage card Damaged Controls would still resolve for the second player.
